四、报告题目：The Spanish public centre for experimentation and studies on public works (CEDEX): overview and activities on ports, navigation, coasts and seas

报告摘要：

The talk will include an overview of coastal problems and trends in Spain, the climatic characterization of some recent extreme events in Spain, its impacts and the strategies being developed for coastal protection.

Past extreme disaster events indicate that knowledge of the past is not enough as a guidance for the future given the radical uncertainty due to present stressors. Significant effects of storms at the shoreline are reviewed and examples of some specific coastal planning and projects being undertaken will be reviewed, emphasizing the need to jointly accomplish physical protection of the coast with environmental goals.

主讲人简介：

Jose Grassa，西班牙公共工程研究与实验中心（CEDEX）港口和海岸研究中心 (CEPYC) 主任，马德里自治大学（UAW）教授，海洋结构系系主任，国际水利与环境工程学会会士（IAHR Fellow）。研究及工作简介：He have been responsible of writing some and supervising more than 2,000 contracted research, development, and advanced technology CEPYC-issued reports on port and coastal engineering, as well as on environmental quality on coasts and seas and navigation safety. As Director of CEPYC, he have also promoted the continuous buildup of world-class, applied research, capabilities at the Centre: Multidirectional Wave Basin, Large Scale Wave and Wind Flume, Ship Maneuvering Uni, Sea Pollution Fighting Laboratory. His personal work has been dealing with computational modelling of wave transformation and wave-structures interaction using CFD as well as characterization of marine traffic from sea basins to ports, related environmental issues (underwater sound, collision risks with whales) and port planning and management using Big Data.
