报告摘要：

Using my own cross-disciplinary research and academic work across (1) marine sciences (海洋科学), (2) geophysical imaging (地球物理成像), and (3) research-teaching nexus (科研与教学融合) as examples, I assess how interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity have played a crucial role in addressing research questions in Earth System Science, identifying new research directions, and furthering the international impact of academic work across previously unconnected communities. I will also highlight some future directions in integrating interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research in ocean sciences for enhanced impact.

主讲人简介：

汤之行，本科毕业于伦敦帝国理工学院（物理学），并在剑桥大学获得海洋地球物理学博士学位，长期致力于地球与空间科学领域的科研与教育工作。目前担任 AGU “地球与空间科学卓越教育奖评选委员会”主席（Chair of AGU’s Excellence in Earth and Space Science Education Selection Committee）、英国高等教育学会的首席会士（Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy）。他是美国地球物理联盟（American Geophysical Union）教育分会（Education Section）的创始秘书。曾担任由英国牵头的研究联盟（Research Consortium）的首席研究员（Principal Investigator），研究东太平洋的海洋与地壳界面。研究成果发表在《Nature》、《Nature Communications》、《Geology》和《Astrophysical Journal Letters》等国际权威期刊上。他主编的多本跨学科与超学科科学研究文集已由剑桥大学出版社（Cambridge University Press）、Springer 和伦敦大学学院出版社（ UCL Press ）出版。
